The Xcaret parks of the Riviera Maya in the Mexican Caribbean have managed to take advantage of the natural wealth of the Yucatan Peninsula with the preservation of the environment to attract a vanguard tourism that is a reference for the tourist sector of Mexico.

Around a third of the tourists that visit Cancun, the Mayan Riviera and the rest of the Quintana Roo destinations go to the Xcaret parks in a concept similar to what Disney parks would be like when moved to the Mexican Caribbean. "We have taken advantage of all the natural beauty of the area to offer the tourist something totally different with underground rivers, caves, the jungle, cenotes and all this in an environment of preservation of the environment", explains Carlos Constandse, vice-president of the Xcaret group, which since 1986 has revolutionized the concept of quality tourism in Mexico.

"Our goal from the beginning was to break with a traditional scheme to offer something different to the tourist," adds Constandse in the presentation of the new hotel Xcaret Mexico built in the middle of the jungle and with the idea of combining luxury with sustainable tourism. By 2018, Constandase estimates that 3.6 million tourists visit the parks, which represents 32% of all tourists who visit this area of the Yucatan peninsula annually and who mostly come from the United States, Canada and Mexico.

"With the new Xcaret Mexico hotel, natural caverns, underground rivers have been enabled and the hotel combined with vegetation in a unique experience," said Constandse. The ambitious goal of the group is to build hotels with six thousand rooms, a convention center and a multipurpose stadium in the next years to allow the celebration of all kinds of recreational and entertainment activities.
